Andromeda "Dromeda" Elizabeth Black-Tonks is the sister of Bellatrix Lestrange and Narcissa Malfoy. She was disowned by her Pureblood-supremacist family for marrying the Muggleborn wizard Ted Tonks, with whom she has a daughter named Nymphadora. Currently, Andromeda is the head of the Department of Mysteries in the Ministry of Magic.
Dromeda is the second daughter of Cygnus and Druella Black. She was born on August 24, 1953. She was raised to believe in Pureblood supremacy, and she bought her family’s lies for most of her childhood, until she was old enough to realize that she could think for herself. She looked up to her sister Bella in childhood, though she later regretted this deeply. She attended Hogwarts, where she was sorted into Slytherin like the rest of her family. When she was 18, she married Ted Tonks. Because Ted's parents are Muggles, her family did not approve of their marriage. So, they eloped. Dromeda's picture was burned off of the family tapestry, and she was disowned. Her daughter, Nymphadora, was born a few years after her marriage to Ted. Dromeda doesn't speak to anyone on her side of the family. [Publically. Secretly, she still corresponds with her sister Narcissa and her cousin Vega, who works for Dromeda.] She is an Unspeakable and Head of the Department of Mysteries within the Ministry of Magic. Ted works at the Ministry, too; he's an Auror, as is their daughter Nymphadora. They are all members of the Order of the Phoenix. Andromeda doesn’t consider her sisters and brothers-in-law enemies; merely prisoners of war that she must save from themselves and bring to the light.
